“A message from Terri Blakely:

Another beautiful day and another wonderful group came along for associate member Mark Reynolds’ 4th Annual “internationally famous” Guided Tree Walk of Cascais for IWP on Saturday, 12 May 2018!

First, member Terri Blakley gave a short presentation about the charity for whom donations were collected, which is O Cantinho da Milu, www.ocantinhodamilu.com, a non-profit, non-government-funded, donation-driven and volunteer-powered animal shelter near Palmela, in Setúbal.

How to help:

  • Become a member (30€/year)
  • Tell Friends/”LIke Facebook pages (https://www.facebook.com/ocantinhodamilu)
  • Volunteer
  • Donate
  • Become a foster family
  • Sponsor a dog or cat (10€/month or more if you like!)

Then, Mark led the group of 20 humans (15 IWP members, 4 associate members and 1 brand new resident of Portugal) and 3 dogs (all 3 rescued, of course!) through the historical center of Cascais, identifying over 20 specimens of trees and telling interesting information about each one, as well as a few extra tidbits about related trees and shrubs.

We all enjoyed ourselves and the beautiful outdoors, learned a lot, and in all we raised 150 euros for O Cantinho da Milu to help with sterilizations, thanks to all the wonderful and generous attendees!  You should’ve been there!”
