Alvaro Pirez is the oldest painter born in Portugal and documented in the Tuscan region of Italy, where he worked between 1410 and 1434He is presumed to have been born in Évora and is known for religious works. He was first mentioned in Vasari‘s 1568 update to his Le Vite delle più eccellenti pittori, scultori, ed architettori (in English, Lives of the Most Excellent Painters, Sculptors, and Architects).
Testimony to the intense relations of the Mediterranean area at the dawn of the Renaissance, the goal of this exhibition is to evoke this unique figure of pioneer and artist, through a common project conceived by the National Museum of Ancient Art and the Polo Museale della Toscana

At the moment, there are 190 cats and some 350 dogs all looking for adoption, love and care. The ethos is Protection and Well Being of Animals.
There are 41 staff members and some 15 volunteers who come once a week on a regular basis. They need many more!
Barbara Nabo is in charge and makes presentations at local Cascais schools, as part of their compulsory Curriculum, learning about
Social and Environmental Responsibily with the idea that adoption is better than purchase of domestic pets. They are in desperate need of volunteers to walk the dogs and spend time with the cats, all for the love of animals. Any day of the week Monday to Friday from 2:30pm to 4:30pm.
